In short, a beautiful strolls through Amsterdam, where the rich history of Amsterdam is central!
3. Architecture city walk Amsterdam
Special interest in architecture in Amsterdam? Then you cannot miss this architecture tour in Amsterdam. During the walk in Amsterdam you will discover that Amsterdam is actually one of the largest historical city centers in the world. Amsterdam is therefore full of (protected) monuments and modern architectural highlights.
Choose for our historic & modern architecture tour, which makes the perfect combination between historical and modern buildings in Amsterdam. 4. Western part of Amsterdam
The western islands of Amsterdam have a rich history of trade, industry and shipping dating back to the end of the 16th century. The Bickerseiland, Prince Island and Real Island have a rich history of trade, shipping and industry dating back to the early 17th century. Much of that story can still be seen today. Due to the (kind of) isolated location of the islands, the area has held some village character while it is in the center of Amsterdam.
The walk leads you through impressive warehouses, picturesque cottages, nostalgic bridges, modern architecture. Let yourself be surprised by the public gardens and the only remaining shipyard. Walk past the birthplace of the famous photographer Jacob Olie, the former studio of the artist Georg Breitner and the current artist Ans Markus. With this tour over the western islands of Amsterdam you’ll experience another great side of Amsterdam.
5. Walk Jordaan Amsterdam
What is Amsterdam without the Jordaan? The Jordaan is undoubtedly the most sophisticated, described and romanticized neighborhood of Amsterdam (and probably also the Netherlands). This tour of the Jordaan gives you a good picture of this old laborer district and the rich (already 400 years) history of this neighborhood.
Nowadays it is a favorite neighborhood for artists, expats, students and young entrepreneurs. During this tour we walk through the many narrow and typical Jordaan streets, quiet courtyards and beautiful canals in this area.
